Bed canopies are a great way to bring some softness, height and drama into your bedroom. The ruffle treatment shown below is known as a half-tester treatment. It can cover from the head to the middle of the bed. These are a great alternative to a full canopy in a small space. The key to the success of this type of treatment is to include draperies behind the bed. This serves to seamlessly unify the bed with the top treatment and enhance the cocooning effect.

The illustration below shows how a simple piece of wood can be used as the shape and support to your half-tester. Any shape you can imagine can be utilized from a demi-lune to wavy cut outs. Screw eyes and/or velcro can be used to attach the treatment and drapery. This is a great way to experiment with ruffles, trims, different pleats and exotic details.
